Repeat, 2026
steel, engraved glass, ceramic, 85cm x 34cm x 10cm
Repeat is a wall-mounted sculpture composed of a steel branch, suspended engraved glass plates, and a ceramic apple. The glass carries a message written by the artist to his father on the night of his birthday in September 2020 in a nightclub in Zurich. The text reflects on childhood memories of tenderness and violence, tracing the complex emotional inheritance within a father–son relationship.
The engraved plates hang from the steel branch like a fragile chain of thoughts. At the lowest point, a ceramic apple references the proverb “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” The fruit becomes a symbol of lineage — suggesting how love, protection, pain, and behavioral patterns pass from one generation to the next.
Through the contrast of rigid steel, transparent glass, and the symbolic fruit, Repeat reflects on repetition, inheritance, and the uneasy question of how much of our parents continues to live within us.
