NEW SKIES

In Hallauer’s first animation artwork New Skies, he constructs a gloomy, dreamlike loop that drifts between memory, presence, and the longing for a future. The piece reflects his own experience of migration — the quiet tension between escape and arrival, between what is left behind and what is ahead; a testimony to the ongoing act of longing for new skies. As a heron lifts off to leave behind the places that begin to grow cold, striving to survive, it turns into an airplane — a parallel departure, timeless and eternal, both bodies drawn toward new horizons. The process of migration between past and future, escape and arrival, death and survival is accompanied by a soundscape: a guitar solo that carries memories in its echo, holding origin, wildness, and the untamed spaces left behind.
